the further removed i become from the gay club scene, the more i'm amazed how people get so caught up in stupid shit like this. i never really understood why a community so wrapped up in prancing around in gucci this and dolce that embraced such a white trash habit. if you needed to get completely wasted to enjoy something, wouldn't it occur to you to try a different passtime?

completely slipping under my radar until yesterday, massive attack have released a new track on the blade 2 soundtrack, with mos def on vocals. the limited edition 12" has the superior instrumental version on it, which is but a gorgeously gloomy nod to the current electro revival. eat your heart out miss kittin!
magical spring in the city moment #1: during an unusually brutal downpour of rain during an unusually brutal heat wave in april, i find myself standing under the awning of an indian restaurant waiting for discount kid while none other than michael stipe comes running for shelter under the same awning. he had the cutest little retro twa handbag!

i finally watched requiem for a dream this weekend, and i have to say i can't recall ever watching a movie that made me feel like i was going to have a heart attack while watching it until this one. the acting, the direction, the musical score, the narrative, everything about this movie is absolutely breathtaking. don't watch this movie with the intention of doing anything afterwards, and call your mother too.

nothing beats the rush of getting a whopping 6 dvd shipment from columbia house. you've waited weeks for it to come, you've run home to check the mailbox everyday and found nothing. then you finally get the package, rip it open, and marvel silently at your new shrinkwrapped posessions. an empty, guilty pleasure for sure, but a good one at that ;)

i don't know how this happened; i'm starting to really like system of a down. they used to really annoy me, but their past two singles have been some of the best metal i've heard since trent reznor went electric. their lyrics seem to go beyond the "all this tiiiiiime, that i've waaaaasted" woe is my suburban life that's a bit too popular now, and oh yeah, they know how to rock. i just wish the bassist and guitarist didn't look like such dweebs.
