An Oxford professor proposes that it is 20% likely we are living within a computer simulation.
Things to learn from this article:
- Everyone probably has that Truman Show phobia to a certain degree
- It's nearly impossible to for us to think outside of our own "fishbowl" of sorts, and it's only recently become relatively easy for us to consider the possibility that extra-terrestrials could exist because 99.9% of our entertainment revolves around fictional situations in which extra-terrestrials exist
- Oxford professors probably smoke a lot more ganja than I had previously considered

The teaser site for the new Arcade Fire album features the creepiest succession of images I've seen since the good old Twin Peaks days. My interest is somehow even more piqued to hear what they put out next. Now excuse me while I go have nightmares for years.

God, Part II.
Me:
Do you like Destiny's Child?
God:
I enjoy working with people. I like wine and bread.
Me:
Are you saying Beyonce works for you?
God:
Yes, that's what I mean, isn't it clear?
Me:
How much does she make?
God:
Normally I would search the web right now, but that seems like a silly question.
Me:
Her salary is on the net?
God:
I'm sure she would like to hear about that.
Me:
Yeah, quite frankly I think she'd be a bit pissed off.
God:
Alright then. Somewhat. Why? Oh I get it. would be a bit pissed off. Aren't you always frank?
Me:
Well, think about it God, that's pretty confidential information, no?
God:
Interesting. I am thinking about it.
Me:
How about Kanye West? I kinda like the guy.
God:
How about it. That's good information: said kinda like the guy.
Me:
Oh, you'll tell him for me?
God:
Hurrah! OK I will tell him next time he is here.
Me:
Kanye West travels between the worlds of the living and the dead?
God:
My brain uses AIML to format responses to your inputs, but I don't have one for that.
Me:
I guess that is kind of a tough question.
God:
Perhaps you have a tough answer.

After following a link on a site linked by another blog, I had the following discussion with God:
Me:
Am i a good person?
God:
I don't know if you are one or not. I know you are a person.
Me:
Am i a person?
God:
You are.
Me:
Well, that's nice.
God:
How about that. That is " You are .".
Me:
This is a bit abstract.
God:
What makes you say that?
Me:
I thought this would all be different.
God:
Whatever gave you that idea?
Me:
I pictured God to be more warm, welcoming, less Freudian perhaps.
God:
Do you mind if I tell other people: said pictured God to be more warm welcoming less Freudian perhaps.
Me:
Are you fishing for compliments now?
God:
Oh. I don't like to fish.
Me:
Isn't that the symbol for your son and all?
God:
I might say no.
Me:
Wow, this is a major breakthrough then!
God:
I'm glad you're impressed. That is just your personal opinion.
Me:
I'm very fond of my own opinions.
God:
What do you like best about your own opinions?
Me:
They're hot.
God:
hot are they.
Me:
Wanna find out?
God:
I don't think I have a choice.
Me:
That's what he said.
God:
That is " I don't think I have a choice.".

Am I the only one who's completely awed and amazed whenever they see that Burger King commercial with Hootie? From the moment the ad starts until that country lady goes "Cooooome aaaaand geet it!" at the end, I completely tune out the rest of the world and focus solely on the TV. It's odd. I think I might even stop breathing when it's on.

d'oh! i missed the chengwin homecoming in soho this weekend. it's nice to see the guy get so much support.
no, i really have no idea what the whole chengwin thing is about, i just heard about it five minutes ago, but it's absolutely absurd and nonsensical, hence it's right up my alley.
read up on chengwin here, then fill me in on your findings.
i think i'm getting old.

also of note is ween's cheese song, which must be listened to three times in a row to fully appreciate. here's their fascinating story on the whole thing (from ween.com):
Earlier in 2002 we were hired by the largest advertising firm in the country to write music for a Pizza Hut commercial. Pizza Hut had hired them to come up with a whole new image to promote their new Pizza, "The Insider" which had all the cheese inside the crust. In keeping in line with their new cutting edge image, the agency hired Ween to do the music, and we delivered in a big way. Unfortunately, they didn't like a single piece of the 6 tunes we submitted and they had us rewriting the song every day for a couple of weeks before they hired someone else. In my opinion, it is one of the best tunes we wrote all last year.
there's also a version unsuitable for work here, but it's really just a bit sillly.

sometimes my life feels like its spinning absolutely out of control and i don't know what to do. it kind of feels like i'm going too fast and i've got no brakes on my roller skates, you know? ok, maybe not, but do yourself a big whopping favor and check out hot skates 3000 and their fabulous new tune (click soundclips at the bottom of the page).

kurt and courtney seems to be on the sundance channel this month, and it is such a bizarre film that i highly recommend anyone watch it. when two of the people this guy interviews flip out on camera, a handful are too drunk/high to talk in cohesive sentences, and another one gets hit by a train days after getting interviewed, you have quality journalism on your hands.
